Join us to Celebrate 40years of The Sheffield Eagles
Sheffield Eagles and the Sheffield Eagles Heritage Project have organised a unique event to help celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Sheffield Eagles which takes place at the OEC Sheffield on Thursday 5th September.
The evening will bring together for the first time many of those involved in the Eagles from three key eras of the Club's history to share their memories and stories. Hear from past and present faces as we all come together to remember the club’s successes from the last four decades.
Gary Hetherington, Kath Hetherington, Daryl Powell and Mark Gamson will kick off the evening talking about the background to setting up the Club, the challenges they faced and what it was like to be part of the Eagles in the early years.
Ian Swire, Gavin Brown, Andrew Henderson and Jack Howieson will then give an insight about the rebirth of the Eagles after the merger in 1999. They will talk about how difficult it was to establish the Club again, and the experiences of rebuilding it over the next 10 years.
The night will round off with David Butler, Anthony Thackeray, Quentin Laulu-Togaga'e, Cory Aston and Tori Thomas reflecting on where the Club is now, how the Eagles is more than just a men's team, and what the future looks like.
